Default Greetings from the upper left-hand corner of America

I thought it was about time I posted here, introduce myself to the community.

My name is Derek, but I go by Refresh in-game, and mostly play assault, with a little bit of onslaught mixed in, and maybe a bit of DM once in awhile for variety. Fell in love with the game waaaay back when the original Unreal came out, and have been stuck on UT2004 since its release.

For a long time, you might have seen me playing as "Turd", but for the last couple years it's been Refresh.

I recently got invited to join up, and after getting harangued by Donster and Executioner, I put on the tag. I hope that I can live up to the expectations!

I currently reside outside of Seattle, Washington, on the far side of Puget Sound, in northern Kitsap County. If you've every been around here, you know it's kind of way out in the woods. No, there are no inbred banjo players around here. That's down in Mason county.

I'm currently a senior system administrator at a large staffing firm, based in Tacoma. I get to play with lots of cool toys, and they actually pay me well for something that I love to do anyway... geek out with technology.

I'm also something of an amateur developer, building everything from standalone Windows applications, scripts, and even the odd website or two. I won't pimp them here, because I don't want to get kicked out of here on my first post!

You'll normally find me on the Great Assault of 1938, but I may occasionally be found on Say UNKLEs onslaught server.

If there is anything I can do for anyone, just shoot me a message throught here, or you can send me an IM on yahoo (dwirch@yahoo.com). Just know that if I don't answer, I might be between computers at the moment - I'm not ignoring you!

I've played with a lot of you in the past, and look forward to meeting the rest of the gang as I see them online.

Have a great day, may your frags be many, and your deaths be few.

    Derek

    Thanks, Aut !

We have a pretty large dev staff at my job, and sometimes, just sometimes, I could strangle some of them, but for the most part, I love working there.

Too bad you're not around the area -- we are looking for another SysAdmin to join the team!

We will get along very well as you can guess i am also a developer, but I'm mostly PHP / MySQL. I've written a few successful applications for the HVAC industry.

Good to know, Muffin! I might pick you brain in the future. I've got a couple of sites that use MySQL as the backend. But being a Windows guy, I couldn't give in fully to the dark side and use PHP. ;)

Thanks, Abolisher. Yeah, sorry for the long-winded intro. I tend to ramble a bit if not reigned in properly.

Thanks, Saph! Happy to be here, and proud to serve.

That would make a great tag line, wouldn't it? ;)

I'm a big microsoft guy, actually our game servers are all windows server 2008. However, our web server is linux. I don't think Microsoft belongs in the web game, they do everything else very well, but linux/apache or lighttpd is king of the internet. That being said you're not going to find a reliable asp ripoff for linux... PHP and MySQL all the way across the sky.
